We are a two form entry school and our youngest children are in our two Reception Classes. These two classes work closely together to make sure each child gets the best start at Moorfield. At the beginning of the school year we run an induction programme for the children to give them time to settle into school and for us to get to know them.
The Early Years’ curriculum is very specialised and we have a lovely team who share a wealth of knowledge and expertise in Early Years’ learning and development. Our two class teachers are ably supported by an experienced and enthusiastic team of Teaching Assistants.
We encourage the children to learn and become independent in a safe, caring and stimulating environment. We recognise that all children are different and special and we provide a variety of methods and learning opportunities in our classrooms. In each area we have a role play area, book corner, writing table, maths table, construction area, creative and technology area, small world, our own computers, an investigation table and a sand and water tray. We also have two outdoor areas, so that the children can play and learn outside too.
It is amazing to watch the children grow and develop in their first year at school. So much to look forward to!
